Are you thinking of speaking to an Independent Financial Adviser? Do you know what you are looking for, and how to compare different advisers?
Cost, regulation and service are all extremely important areas, but so are the qualifications your adviser holds.
Our main concern is that under current rules, someone without the relevant qualifications is allowed to give you regulated financial advice, so long as this advice is subsequently checked by someone else after the event who holds the relevant qualifications
In essence, the person you may be speaking to, may not have any qualifications on the subject they are advising you about!!! Would you be happy with that?
We recommend that you do one thing: Ask them what qualifications they hold, and compare these to the explanation on our website;
At Fernleigh Wearden & Co, we believe that we have the perfect blend of youth, experience, qualifications and knowledge. It’s an arduous journey to achieve the top qualifications of Fellow of the Personal Finance Society and Chartered Financial Planner, which are the titles held by one of our advisers, Mark Wearden.
But it is not only qualifications which are important. Knowledge of the industry, and technical awareness, is also important. Paul Wearden has that knowledge, having been a financial adviser for over 35 years, advising clients through many stock market rises and falls, and helping them to achieve their goals of ‘living life by planning well’.
He was one of the first people to achieve the now outdated ‘Fellow of the Life Insurance Association’, held at a very young age, when qualifications and titles were first launched for financial advisers. Titles change and qualifications are downgraded in our industry over the years, and as such it is important to retain industry knowledge and continue to take qualifications over the longer term.
Our two advisers have over 50 years’ experience in the financial services industry, developing a breadth of knowledge in the pensions, investments and protection fields.
It is this combination of youth and experience that makes Fernleigh Wearden & Co a perfect match for many clients when discussing their finances.
