We have both been our and about this week at the Personal Finance Society meeting at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel.
The meeting serves many purposes. Speakers from insurance companies and technical experts will give presentations on the topical issues involving investments, protection and pensions. These areas are often in depth, and help us to clarify the needs of our customers, to ensure that they are receiving the right financial advice.
There was also an interesting talk from a technology expert, talking about where he sees technology getting to in the next 20 years, in terms of driverless cars, robot automation, and the jobs of the future, which was both scary and amazing.
We get to meet other financial advisers around the Preston area, and discuss best practice, concerns, developments and their recommendations and processes for improving the service we give to our clients.
It also allows us to work towards our Continuing Professional Development. A financial adviser needs to complete 35 hours of CPD every year to retain their statement of professional standing and their title, and as such it is very important that we both attend these courses.
Most meetings are within driving distance of our offices in Preston, and lunch is normally provided, so we can’t complain too much!
